Project Talk

So, with a renewed focus (pun intended), I am working to put things in place for initializing the start of the project.  I have begun to organize my thoughts onto paper, planning through the logistics of making all of this happen.  I would love to be able to simply jump on this project and run, but that simply isn’t possible. Time, people, money, and life in general will each lend a hand in slowing this project at various times.  My initial focus is the first set of plates.  If I can get those plates settled, I feel that others will fall into place.  I have several options for moving forward after those initial plates…depending on funding options.  I will be considering sponsorship options shortly, as I want this project to provide a meaningful outlet, not just for myself, but also for those that I am photographing.  Having support from other interested parties (not only financial, but also gallery/show space, and publicity).

More specific information regarding the project will be released in the coming days/weeks.

In the meantime, I have secured a new piece of equipment to help in the production of the project.  My newest camera is a Calumet C1 “Green Monster” 8X10 camera.  Aptly named, it is big and green.  This will allow me to shoot full 8X10 tintypes, ambrotypes, and glass plate negatives for my upcoming project.  I will still be using, for most images in the series, my Gasc lens from the mid-to-late 1860’s.  It is quite a looker all setup to shoot.
