WetPlate Collodion Photography is one of the main photographic process used from the 1850's through the 1870's. Images on japanned steel (tintypes) and images on glass (ambrotypes) were used to capture the people, places, and events of the period like never before. The chemical process makes each image a one of a kind original.
Chris started researching the wetplate process back in 2000. In 2001 he ordered his first batch of chemistry and went to work on trying to master the process. Almost 25 years later, he is still shooting the process. Chris only shoots large format wetplate collodion images for both commercial and private commissions.
